Evil is winning overseas. We know that the Gospel of Christ is the only powerful weapon that can stop evil’s advance.  But we must help spread God’s good news. Not all are able to move overseas to share the Gospel, but we can send Others to go for us.  Our Lottie Moon Offering in Dec-January will be used by our Southern Baptist missionaries.  Half of the $3000 we are raising will be sent to our missionaries from USA and half to those from the Philippines.  Designate your Special Gift for Overseas Missions as “MISSIONS.”

Let us help and pray for this ministry.

We are still currently raising funds for hygiene kits, schools supplies and sending boxes.

The team will be serving communities in Baguio, Dagupan and Payatas, Philippines.

There will be an outreach mission to teach local school kids in Baguio about basic hygiene, recycling and arts.

While in Dagupan, they will be providing basic first aid to a predominantly Muslim community living at a dumpsite.

The team will continue its mission serving in Payatas to 500 male and female prisoners by providing basic hygiene supplies and sharing the gospel.

Parade Map

May 3, 2013

Dear Laytonsville Parade Participant,

The Laytonsville Parade Committee would like to thank you for agreeing to participate in the 2013 Laytonsville Community parade to be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  The parade will begin at 11:30 am. All parade participants should arrive between 10:30-11:00 am. Route 108 will be closed to traffic promptly at 11:30 am.

Enclosed for your information is a map detailing the parade line-up location, parade route, and available parking.  The parade will begin at Rt. 108 and Sundown/Brink Road and continue to Maple Knoll Drive. Parking is available in the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church parking lot on the north side of town, and in the parking lot next to the Laytonsville Fire Department.  Please note that exit from parking lots within the parade route will not be permitted while the road is closed. A Fun Run follows the parade and the road will remain closed until the Fun Run is over, which is approximately 1:00 pm.

Children who are walking in the parade will integrate in behind St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church.  Upon arrival all children should report to the check-in station located in the church parking lot.  At check-in, you will be asked to go to your group’s designated area in the parking lot to await the start of the parade.

All other parade participants are to proceed down Sundown Road from the traffic light on Route 108 and enter 1st Street for check-in and line-up location.

We have a contest for the best units! A unit can be a float, a wagon, a decorated vehicle, a walking group, animal unit, etc. Judging will be done during the parade at the reviewing stand.  There are 3 categories based on age – Best Kid’s Unit (age 10-), Best Youth Unit (age 10+), and Best Adult Unit. An additional prize for the Parade’s Best will be given to the group that best represents the parade’s theme, which is ‘Celebrating Spring’. Cash prizes will be awarded to each category and presented to the participant after the parade.

The parade will proceed rain or shine. We realize that some participants are unable to come in inclement weather. In the event that you are unable to participate on the day of the parade, please call 240-281-0987 to notify us. We look forward to a great day!

Sincerely,

Charles D. Kearse, Parade Coordinator
