Granted that we who claim to be followers of Christ do not always walk our talk, this should not be a justification for anyone to reject Christ. Nevertheless, Christians have no excuse either in view of all the resources and enlightenment available to them. One does not need much higher education to encounter Christ by just reading the Gospels nowadays. Science and Christian scholars have made the ancient Scriptures more available and understandable to any honest seeker nowadays. The original texts have been restored, translated and abundantly explained by Christian scholars to bring us face to face with God, the real Author.
Aside from the Scriptures, believers today have more resources available to them than believers during in biblical times. Over against the limited revelation of our predecessors, we now know that God our Father, His Son and His Holy Spirit are here living with us and empowering us to live for God’s glory. Also, God has given us His church, His family, with which we can relate and draw some strength as we serve together. And of course, our God is not limited and confined among His people. He also works around us and with us. He answers our prayers and blesses our words of witness and testimony for our Lord.
From all angle, therefore, the responsibility is on our shoulders to become and live as true Christian disciples if we are to bring the world to the foot of the Cross.
Food for thought: If you’re being charged as a follower of Christ, will there be enough evidence to prove you guilty? --- nrm/08/17/2014.
